Our goal

TLC ArT Youth Gallery

T'onna Clemons Art LLC (TLC ART Gallery is a Artist-owned Ann Arbor/ Detroit-based Gallery that exhibits the creative work of upcoming artists, along with educating and showcasing the youth around the city and provides a FREE safe place, distribution of their art. Featured art will be wall sculptures, designed furniture, vases, paintings, and standing sculptures. We want to identify, develop and support community-led initiatives which further our vision of a thriving dynamic community that values and invests in its people and places by supporting creativity, innovation and access to opportunity. 

The Youth gallery project is part of an ongoing effort to expand public art in this community focusing on minority artist environments to enhance uniqueness of the city and support inclusion of artists who would not necessarily have the opportunity to contribute or be a part of the artist community. Becoming a familiar and local face would bring hope and opportunity for young minority artists. Representation brings the realization that they're dreams and aspirations are able to be turned into fruition and they do not have to look far to see success.  

PROJECT INTENT  

This would be the first Black owned and operated art gallery in Ann Arbor, MI, and it will help set the tone for future public art projects. T’onna Clemons Art LLC will establish a visual look and feel that distinguishes the Gallery from surrounding communities. The final designs must go beyond the simple visual representation of an object or event. Examples of appropriate project themes include, but are not limited to: • Textiles • Innovation  • Inclusion • Abstraction • Education • Connectivity.
